Tell me where it Hurts...

How many of us have heard these words from a mother, a nurse, or a doctor? I’m sure that we can all think of multiple instances in our lives where we heard these words, probably directed at us specifically. You were probably in pain of some sort, maybe a little scared and nervous, and then someone asked you that question. Can you remember how those words made you feel? You knew that when your parent or doctor asked you that question that they cared for you and wanted to make the hurt go away, and you were relieved because you trusted them and their ability to make it better. It is the same way with God, he wants us to tell him what hurts when we come to him in prayer, to lay bare our heart before him, confessing our sins and shortcomings . When we put our full trust, our hope, our everything in his hands we no longer carry the burden and the pain of our sins, we are set free from the chains that are holding us down. The power and forgiveness of God that we received through the sacrifice of his son Jesus Christ have a power no earthly Doctor or counselor can match, not even close. Pray to God, tell him what hurts, and put your faith in him that he, and he alone, can make the pain go away…and it will!

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5: 6-7

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18
