Well, here we are again heading into the last days of 2019. Thanksgiving and Christmas are upon us. What a wonderful time of the year. Times of family gatherings, parties, trips back home, lots of baking and cooking. Times filled with all the traditions that we look forward to every year.
In looking over the scriptures for November, we will journey with Jesus on the road to Jerusalem and the cross in Luke’s Gospel. In the celebration of Advent, Matthew’s Gospel will begin with prophecy of Jesus’ second coming and concluding with his birth.
It is my desire that during the busy times ahead for each of us that we contemplate the journey that we are taking.
Where are we going in life?
What are we doing?
What are our goals?
What purpose do we have?
Thanksgiving and Christmas are filled with traditions and memories that we hold dear, however in regards to our spiritual lives there must be more than the fulfillment of traditions and memories. There is hope, joy, peace and love that we have because of what God has done and will do through Jesus. We experience all these things because he was born as a child, and then gave his life for us and became our Lord and Savior.
